  Intellectual work in the design, the selection of materials, the making itself... If Barbara Hepworth or Auguste Rodin are art, then this is too I'm afraid. Of course, it may not be to your taste, or meet your criteria for 'good' art, but art it is. I'd rather fall under a bus than read, say, Catherine Cookson, but I have to acknowledge she'd be found on the shelves somewhere between Conrad and Coover.
