  I've lived in Dover district for over 4 decades.
  
  Every few years DDC spends a small fortune on Market Square plans to ‘create a more welcoming environment for local shoppers and a focal point for visitors’ or some other marketing bollocks.
  
  (Remember the giant TV? )

  (Yes, I know it's Coastal Communities Fund so it's government money they stole from me in income taxes and not DDC money stolen from me in council tax this time. So bloody what? It's still come out of my pocket.)
  
  I'm seriously thinking of taking up painting and after ingesting even larger amounts of psychoactive substances doing a whole series of scenes of 'improvements' to various parts of Dover, complete with figures at a totally different scale, which never get built. There's obviously a market for them.
  
  I see myself as a latter day Bob Ross with happy little cable cars ....................
