Yet another essential service reliant on volunteers, maybe if we fired a few less missiles in Syria the organisation could be properly funded with the money saved.

The sad thing about this episode is the mention in the article of young people throwing stones at the seal. Who are these sub-humans?

And why were they not in school at 2 pm? Certain kids will always be a pain, when the Heron was in Pencester Gardens a few Christmases ago I saw an adult let his dog off of the lead to deliberately attack the Heron who thankfully got off the ground post haste.

The thoughtless cruelty to animals of any kind is beyond my comprehension,
Yes those kids should surely have been in school at that time, can I be generous with my thoughts and hope they deliberately missed the seal and only wanted to see it move.

Still on the loose search will continue tomorrow assuming it's not in Brian's freezer by then.
Great set of photos here.

Sadly only a pup and unlikely to survive much longer without its mother.

If they can catch it I would have thought it would flourish in one of the seal rescue centres until big enough to be released.

Not too sure about that Jan he is still young enough to feed from his mother even though he has been depleting our fish stocks. The mother must be very stressed as they only have one at a time after a 9 month pregnancy and she would be the sole acting parent. Still not captured despite the best efforts of the RSPCA and Kent fire and rescue. If seen on land the number to ring is 0300 1234999.

Not as straightforward as I thought, this from Burnham House Facebook page.
Seal pup update! Our gorgeous little boy did well overnight. Clinical examination found that he was very underweight through lack of food whilst in the river which had caused him to become cold. He is suffering from pneumonia but is undergoing treatment and the outlook is good. He also has an ulcer in his left eye, most likely from scratching it on rocks in the shallow river. As he is bright and responsive, he is today being transferred to RSPCA Mallydams wildlife rehabilitation centre where he will spend several months gaining weight and recovering before being released to the wild.
