I'm by no means religious, but had RE / RI lessons at St Martins and Dover Grammar School.
I believe they generally teach right from wrong according to any decent person.
As I remember, it promotes goodwill to others, treat others as you would like to be treated - I can't see much wrong with that.
As I understand, that is more or less the message all mainstream religions would like to declare.
Perhaps RE / RI lessons should be re-labeled as 'Living in a caring, responsible Society', and drop all mention of religion, so no-one can opt out on 'faith' grounds.
