  Unfortunately even "reputable" suppliers buy on the grey market for budget machines. The vast majority of laptops and desktops are manufactured and assembled in PRC with limited external supervision.

  i am sure that the big retailers buy in good faith but they would have no way of knowing for sure what goes on in the factories.
