I'm left wondering what happened with regard to the issue that sent the pc to the address in the first place, and why only one pc?

One pc with a gun would have been sufficient tom

One pc would be plenty IF the suspect was expected to come quietly, how often does this happen?
Yes Howard, something brought about by the circumstance of sending one pc to make the arrest.
What about the 'supposed' victim of the original offence?

From the latest Kent on Line report: A spokeswoman from Kent Police said: "We had officers entering this address to make a routine arrest - it was not in response to an emergency call.
"He resisted and patrols called for back-up."
The man was arrested and in custody by 10.34am. Today he was still being questioned at Canterbury Police Station, and has not yet been named.
From that it would seem there was more than one officer to effect the arrest. Probably the only other Kent Police Staff in Deal at the time were PCO's which is just not good enough.

Thanks Martin.
It may just be the 'enthusiasm' of the reporter that clouds the issue. Time will tell.

I would be surprised if they only send one policeman when making an arrest, I doubt the majority of those being arrested would not put up some form of resistance even if it is only verbal or token.

We shall have to just wait and see...
"A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a police officer was allegedly threatened with a machete."
The damaged car in the picture is unmarked. All a bit confusing.

It is confusing Tom, CID arrest? To transport the prisoner in a car would require two persons surely? cutting corners because of manpower issues? no doubt all will become clear.
