12:2874210Just announced the ending of another one of Prescotts daft ideas. I await yet more ( Hips is now a fading issue that has cost us dearly).
I envisage the Whitehall mandarins being courted by big business to bring in legislation that only they can comply with ( I have previously mentioned sustainability here) Which we, in the provinces, know full well are unworkable in reality.
Over many years the Apprentice schemes have been destroyed. I am in the process of trying to find one and the support by Government has been totally inadequate and unworkable for us. Promises of grants that don't exist and many quangoes/agencies who can promise but not deliver. no wonder the young people are frustrated. These too are now being looked at by the coalition - I await with baited breath as to their workability. Sceptical as ever....

18:0874259just a small comment on david's post, h.i.p.s. was a lousy idea but quite easily circumvented.
the rules stated that the sale was a result of advertising, vendors and purchasers could quite eaily tell their solicitors that they had reached agreement after the buyer had heard that the house was for sale through word of mouth.

08:3074330Millions were lost in that farce - I know of one local surveyor that spent thousands getting qualified to find the rug had been pulled. Companies in London were being sold for millions and many were lead astray by the adverts offering a new career as a surveyor after 10 weeks training.
We never did any but have seen such rubbish reports by others and was told specifically that it was a Government tick box requirement for the eu. Nowadays we get regular enquiries from a national company to do energy surveys for £35 a time over Kent - and it just cant be done for that price. So who are doing them? Its a scandal still being perpetrated.
