from today our friends in brussels have outlawed production of the 60 watt bulb to try to get us to use low energy ones in future.
the 100 watt and 75 watt have already gone.
people have been stockpiling them and the shops say that they have plenty in stock to keep going for some months yet.
there have been complaints that the modern counterpart of the traditional light bulb causes migraines to some and are too dim to move safely around the house.
i am gradually getting used to them, what do other members think of them?

One of our Chief Engineers suffers from migraines from the fluorescent lighting in the Engine Control Room, in which he is required to spend most of his time. I have just heard from the ship that, as an experiment, they have replaced the usual daylight tubes with special SAD tubes designed to combat Seasonal Affective Disorder. Apparently the ECR now looks gloomy and seedy and all the information screens appear a funny colour. Even the Chief Engineer in question is rather disconcerted so one imagines that the experiment will not be long lived.

That's an interesting (and useful) recycling index, Tom.

An interesting situation Ed C.
The information obtained via the link below could be summarised as 'refer to manufacturer', but there are other cures for fluorescent light problems offered that may mean more in the situation you describe...
