We got rather flooded out today during monsoon season that was this afternoon and so I need to empty the bottom floor as soon as possible. I've already said to Ross that he could have a lot of our unwanted books for his fundraising but I have about 100 books that need to go very very soon. Ross, if you can take 100+ books in one go where can we deliver them? Otherwise does anyone have storage for them? I want them all gone in one go as there's no room for them now.

It was a bit heavy wasn't it Jen ? Sorry to hear it flooded your bottom floor. Our garage is still full of Jean's peritoneal boxes, so until we have them collected, we don't have any space - I always have difficulty getting out of the car as it is.
Are they damaged at all, or do you just need to shift them out because of the water. Hooked on Books take/buy previously-read books if they're O.K.

The books are all okay as they were on top of a table in the basement. Luckily I'd started the sorting out the day before. Amazing stroke of luck that I did as we were under about 6 inches of water. Think I'll be going to Poundland and getting some more of their heavy duty plastic boxes with lids.
I'll sort out some of the books for Scope and bring the rest down to the White Horse later on.
There'll be a steady stream of books coming as both me and my dad are having a massive clear out. Dad used to go to boot fairs and do the "how much for the lot?" Consequently we could have had our own library :-) Now he's realised he doesn't want to be a librarian!!!

I would have offered putting them on the attic, Jen. But then I realised I live in a converted attic.
The floods won't reach my dwelling.

Finally stopped feeling like a mermaid and got the wellies off. About 25 bags of assorted books taken to the White Horse. Should be something for everyone on that lot. Already started on tranche 2 whilst doing the bale out.
Found about 3 carrier bags of books for Scope so I'll take them down myself but thank you very much for the offer Ted! I'll keep that pile going too as I'm sure I have plenty of nice novels around.
Thanks for the kind thoughts people! Thinking I'll have webbed feet if this gets any worse!!!!

West as the crow flies, Reg, as far as the Priory of Saint Mary's and Saint Martin's.

We live in Saxon Street, Reg. Due to a manic DIYer in the 1960s our house isn't like the rest of the street. We've been flooded before but never to this extent. It would help if the drain at the end of the cul de sac was kept free of plants so the water could drain away better but that won't happen. Maybe I'll just buy some sandbags

At least the sun is out today so I can get the basement aired!

That drain gulley should be cleared by Kent Highways; I'll sent them an email.

Thanks Roger. It's at the end of Saxon Street in the cul de sac. I've cleared the weeds away but it must be full of silt as even a small downpour made it fill up again. There is a tree growing next to it so it may be the roots blocking it but I don't know. I don't remember it ever being looked at by anybody official.
