Loosing Connection

15 September 2010 12:3470863For the last few days I have been having internet problems, the connection kept breaking up, it was so bad I gave up trying to use the internet altogether. Being completely computer illiterate I thought I had done something stupid to the adjective thing.
This morning I reset the wireless router, yet again, and disconnected the granson's Xbox, everything now is back to normal. Coincidence maybe but I will find out when he gets home and plugs the thing in again. I just thought I would post this in case anyone else has had a similar problem.-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I get the same problem when my phone is in use or rings, due to the distance from the exchange my connection is dodgy. Not a lot I can do about it unless we get a fibre optic connection available out here in sheep country. - 15 September 2010 14:2670880Sometimes unplugging/rebooting the router is all it needs especially if it has been on for a long time. We had a similar problem here (Essex) last year and it was caused by the outside cable box, (Virgin Media) which serves a number of properties, becoming water-logged.

15 September 2010 15:4470897I am with Virgin, I wonder if the rain caused the problem for me. We had unplugged the router several times unless it was not off long enough of cause.
The computer seems to be working OK still, just waiting now for my grandson to get home from Sandwich Tech to complain that I unplugged the Xbox.
Computers are a great source of information and entertainment............ when they are working properly.-----------------------------------------------------------------------
