That is sad, the last one of the Galapagos Islands Tortoises. Another species extinct.

I did wonder if other species were still there. Good. I wonder if London Zoo still have the giant tortoises I saw many years ago?

I did hear through the QI programme that it took science hundreds of years to obtain a specimen of these tortoises. Many, many attempts were made to carry sufficient of them on the voyage home, but, alas they were just too tasty for their own good.

a delicacy in vietnam i believe though george would have not tasted that brilliant at his age tom.
i can't help but wonder how happy george was when he was alive with a total lack of er erm - female companionship.

he would have needed some inspiration though brian, i doubt if there were any magazines with female tortoises in where he lived.
