  I am a deputy media person for the Labour Group and I have to work with all local papers,I understand what Keith is saying in that a newspaper can print things which turn out not to be the truth even though they printed them in good faith.I think this problem stems from a clash of personalities between the Labour Group and a Newspaper.
  I have no problems with any of the newspapers and read them both,and I must say I think in recent years they have got better and probably more even handed.I have friends at both newspapers that I have made over the years and yes I have even been called names but I have no complaints.Even though neither paper is printed in Dover and the offices ar out of town.
  I also dropped leaflets in lots of doors and some of the people I know that helped were not even Labour party members,but just someone who wanted to 'help out' and that is fine,to do something you believe in or feel the need to do even without belonging to a Political Party is no problem.
  I know at least 2 local vicars that either have or still do deliever leaflets and only 1 is a member of a political party,does that stop them preaching...no of course not.I also know of another Vicar who is active in the Tory Party but doesn't advertise it.
  Many people are not able or are allowed to be members of a Political party but still feel they should help.I know one member of the Council workforce who was a Chairman of a local Tory ward,and had to give it up so they could keep the job,fine I work with the person as easily as anyone else,but that person could still support the Tories.
