there was an article on b.b.c. local news about a possible take over of kent regional newspapers by the kent messenger group.
k.r.n. has six titles in east kent, the most famous being the favourite of our keith, namely the dover express.
we do seem lucky to have two local titles to purchase and i have always wondered whether there was enough news and advertising revenue to warrant that.
both our local organs are based out of the town too, making it harder to sniff out stories.

The forum does a lot of the stoiries for the papers, and yep howard i would like to see those at the top of the express go, and a new community paper to come into being.
then maybe those that have stopped buying it might well start buyin it again

As a reader of newspapers, I am intrigued by this report, and the possible repercussions. I presume that if the Kent Messenger Group takes over Kent Regional Newspapers, one of the Dover newspapers would go. Would they combine the best of both papers (hopefully it would be an end to the dreadful Dubris column in the Express), and which paper's name would survive? What happens to the staff? I can't imagine they would all be kept on. I've never seen anyone from the Mercury posting on this forum, but I have seen Kathy's postings. Would be good to know what's happening.

each to their own, it is my ambition to get a mention in the dubris column.
as long as it does not involve me being caught with my trousers down of course.
Some might suggest that whether your trousers were actually down or not may have little impact on the reporting of that "fact". Just a thought.

I was mentioned in Dubris once, I was called "genial". They obviously didn't know me very well.

That explains it John, it was obviously a misprint.
