    DT1 I agree entirely with your post, labour have made this into a tired old class war which resolves nothing. The silly thing is its likely in 2015 that the labour equivalent of IDS will be in a similar situation.

    Debate must have a start point, to me that is:

    Does the welfare bill need cutting?

    Once thats agreed objectives can be set out. To me £53 pw is irrelevant, its just a nominal sum, IDS's background or circumstances are irrelevant too, there is not a politician in either cabinet that isn't comfortably off.
