    It lacked a certain ambience - apart from the rain as it started, there were the seagulls, the traffic noise, cars driving through, the teenagers having impromptu singalongs on their way to and from the fair, the Veolia van emptying the bins, the army cadets giving out flyers for Barry's do in the middle of one of the most sensitive arias.



    The scene from Trafalgar Square, fountains seem to be switched off but no builders fencing around them.



    Two DDC staff arrived about 7, knew less about what was going on than we did, then disappeared into the Discovery centre leaving me with a pile of programs and leaflets to hand out - I answered questions about where's the loos, why are the fences around the fountains, why was there no information in the Tourist Information Centre - yes folks, for 15 minutes yours truly was in charge

    You'll be pleased to hear I declined to do any body searches.
