    Today on The World at One (Radio 4 at 1300 to the uninitiated) the BBC's Emma Jane Kirby 'rediscovers' Dover and other 'lost' Kent towns, such as Dartford, Gravesend, Aylesham and Sandwich, and considers how, if at all, they have changed from the days when travellers used one of these:



    Dover's Terry Sutton is one of the folks Kirby has a chat with. I must say, though I don't remember a time when there were '28 bakers in Dover's town centre, 25 butchers and 40 greengrocers', I do miss Scrivens up Tower Hamlets, and how he used to weigh the loose veg and then tip it all in my Mum's big straw bag.
