An actual development re DTIZ?
It was rumoured to be moving to the ex-Seamans Mission building in Snargate Street.

What a shame - another victim of the DTIZ's decades-long inertia. Was once Dover's best.
Mr Islam and his once-great business deserved better than its long tortuous enforced slow death among the choking, emphysemic fuel smuts of DHB Townwall Freeway. He should have been permitted to relocate into Dover town centre years ago.
I hope he finds a decent location from which his restaurant can rise again. Central Deal, perhaps?
Cheers,
Andy

a notice in the windows says that they have closed due to regeneration of dover but no mention of where they would be relocating to.

Andrew - do you not think that he may have closed these premises because the DTIZ is actually now happening! It would need to close ahead of BH demolition anyway.
It was an excellent restaurant so I hope this is a positive move for both Mr Islam and the DTIZ.

I hope this a positive sign and that a deal has been done so that redevelopment can begin too.
From what has been said it doesn't sound like a relocation though because if I were relocating my business I would use every opportunity to publicise it.

Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

Mr Islam paid us a visit to get some documents copied prior to closure - I rather think he had the rug pulled from beneath his feet, so to speak...

Paul, did he say he would be opening up somewhere else?

A shame, hopefully 'the Light' will shine again elsewhere in Dover, I hope that this is all connected to a positive move with regard to DTIZ

Jan, it didn't seem prudent to ask in the circumstances - he was a little distracted by events.

Thanks Paul, it is always very sad when a restaurant or any other business with a good reputation closes.

i don't know how old mr islam is but maybe he has had enough of running a restaurant, it is a demanding occupation with little free time?

I think he is well into his 60s. His sons Mitu and Mickey are well established and I think Nurul deserves a long and comfortable retirement.
