Big floodlit search of the Shakespeare Beach area the other night with helicopter, coastguard, police and so on. Here is the latest info just in from the RNLI who were also involved. There were suggestions earlier of a suicide attempt.
Many thanks to the RNLI as ever for the info.

Dover Lifeboat Crew in missing person search as training exercise turns into the real thing!
Dover's RNLI volunteers were diverted from their routine training on Tuesday evening (8th) to assist in a search for a person believed at risk in the Shakespeare Cliff area.
At approximately 2000hrs, whilst the lifeboat was at sea, the request for assistance was made by Coastguards at Dover's Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre. The lifeboat, under the command of Deputy Coxswain Mark Finnis, immediately diverted from the exercise and made its way to the focal point of the search at Shakespeare Beach. Other agencies including Kent Police and volunteer Coastguards from the Folkestone and Langdon teams were also in attendance and searching the beach and the surrounding land.
The lifeboat crew launched the inflatable Y boat and using it and the all weather Severn class lifeboat started to search the shoreline and waters between the Admiralty Pier and the Folkestone Warren.
To ensure the best possible coverage of the area that includes some difficult terrain for searching, a Search and Rescue helicopter from Lee-on-Solent was called to the scene to search using its Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) capability.
Despite the efforts of all the agencies involved no one was found and the units were eventually stood down.
