Not long ago Lidl had a bad reputation. However, pop into the Folkestone store and you will find a clean, bright and excellent shop with a huge range of quality products. I really hope that we might get one. I know we did have one some years ago on the MFI site but it wasn't a "proper" shop it just had overruns and remainders.
Aldi on the other hand has really gone downhill. It is muddled and frequently has pallets in the aisles. It's getting worse than Netto used to be.

On the advice of my sister who has lived in Europe all her married life I started using Lidl at the edge of Westwood, quality items and a feeling of not being ripped off, would not do main shop at any other supermarket now.

Terry
I'm sure more stores are welcome.
Have to say I disagree on Aldi, it depends what you are looking for.

Can't remember ever going into either aldi or lidl, tried the former once but they had no baskets just shopping trolleys so i gave it a miss.
read in other reports besides the "telegraph" that they have quietly moved into the mainstream and attracting people with higher spending power.

They (Aldi) used to have baskets Howard - with wheels on I believe, but apparantly they were all stolen, so they didn't replace them.
Aldi do have good stock at reasonable prices, but I do agree that the trollies are a problem.

I never remember Aldi having baskets, I always used to use my shopping bag and empty it when I got to the till.
I know Netto had all their baskets stolen by people saying they were just going to use a basket to put their purchases in the car.
