I cannot find the original thread it was to do with a local Deal Councillor who had reportedly offended the people of Liverpool by comments he made .In today’s Dover Mercury we have the Mayor of Deal writing a lettter expressing his views on the comments made .
The Deal Mayor has been ill advised to express his views in this way .The Mayoral position should remain neutral at all times .

Correctamundo.
Just as, I suggest, our elected representatives should enjoy the same freedom of speech we all do as individuals UNLESS they are speaking 'through' their position?

I have been patiently waiting to find out the contents of this letter but have reached the conclusion that this will be another "Harold Pinter" type thread which Sue specialises in.

Like so many I do not waste my money on any of the local rags as a result this whole thread is a mystery to me. Maybe time you did Sue then we would understand what you are on about, it is very easy to do.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I have learned something new this evening as according to the Deal Town Council website David Cronk is the Mayor, maybe they should call in the PR team that our Town council uses?
I love that bit about the "fine city of Liverpool", he clearly doesn't get out much.

At what cost Howard lol
Obviously with Boris going through the wars over his comments whilst around Liverpool this Deal Town Cllr is joining in the war on other political parties.
The Deal Town Cllr is obviously treading waters that could backfire on him.
Where his own party Cllr in Dover (on another thread) was giving out Abusive comments to someone he disagreed with.
I think when I hear, its all this governments fault, I reply, so what next, they say, got to get rid of them, of course its not that easy.
As iv been saying for some time now, there has to be an alternative .

I found an early draft of Nicks letter before his wife edited it for sending,
"As chairman of Deal town council, (not personally you understand as I fully agree with his views) I wish to denounce the vitriolic outrage (makes it sound really serious hey!) which issued from Cllr Bob Frost. Such opprobrious(look it up i had too) contempt for the fine city of Liverpool and it's people(they are not all thieving toe rags I'm told) has no place in serious political discussion (i know i know, but I am on the bandwagon here so give me some slack)."
Well it might have been!
