It's good to know we have reached the phase of public consultation and discussion where the public's view is being made manifest.
So I fully support Paul Scotchie's reference to public opinion, and indeed, it is important that both sides are able to bring a clearer picture of what the public thinks.

This is important for the councillors and officers at DDC whose duty it will be to take into consideration the CGI planning application. They need to know what the public thinks of it, and the public's views come by way of representations and comments to DDC Planning, following the channels indicated on the planning site notice, and by way of petition.

As I managed to get 100 signatures in two hours, I too have a clearer notion of what people in general think. Together we got several hundred names in that short period of time, and I noticed that all the visitors who I approached, signed the petition.

This seems to indicate that the official DDC Planning version in the Corporate Plan 2012-16, about tourism, does not correspond, as visitors both from other parts of Britain and from overseas who I spoke with, all signed against development on Western Heights and Farthingloe.

I have sent Lorraine my report on what people generally said to me, including the fact that only one person declined to sign on account of his being specifically in favour of the development plans, while two declined to sign on because they were undecided.
