Ok here is my own PERSONAL opinion on it all now that I have actually read all of the information available...... this is absolutely NOTHING to do with WHPS which is putting together a committee decision at present.
- I don't have any problems with Farthingloe, building will happen there sooner or later anyway with the constant expanding of Folkestone Road for the last 600 years or so.
- I don't have any problems in principal with the houses and hotels, but I have some reservations with regards some of the designs. Additional houses in the areas proposed won't damage the heritage and a precedent is already set with existing houses. It needs to be done sensitively.
THE BIG BUT...
- for me to be happy for it to happen and for the compromise to be successful, the benefits to the heritage must majorly outweigh the 'damage' that is done elsewhere. At the moment there isn't enough information on the guaranteed benefits to the heritage and how much money is available. I'd like to see up front investment in the heritage before the first sods are turned and not have to await completion and sale of properties.....
SO....
At the moment a lot more information need to be available before I can truely be for OR against the proposed developments...... I could still fall into either camp depending on the details....
