Before I get into my short story of a local store, does anyone know where/which shop could/would sell garden strimmers? tried argos they are sold out of all strimers across kent and sussex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
any thoughts/help appreciated.
now to my short story,,,,,,,,,,
We had family visiting on a sunday in june for what was to be a late xmas family celebration as the mother in law who's birthday was on xmas day sadly died just before, so celebrating was put off for a while.
We decided to have a family gathering and started to make the arrangements.
with so many coming we needed another table, so online i went on the monday before the sunday event, yep no problems ARGOS had the table/chairs in stock and at a small delivery charge(they were heavy) it was arranged, it was all looking good at that point, we were told wednesday they would be delivered, by this private company that argos uses for all it's deliveries.
of course they say it will be delivered some time wednesday therefore someone had to be inb the whole day.
yep you guessed it, no delivery, so the next day i phones argos to be told it would be delivered that day (thursday) of course it wasnt!!!
so now i look up the customer care/complaints as the day is nearing.
the lady looks it up, nope for some reason(not known to her) the delivery was never down to happen.!!!!!
and i could pop into the local store theres now one there.
having no choice i did this, and was explaining my plight to the sales assistant who replied that this was normal this private company has never been up to scratch.
so i took the table/.chairs home.
what i forgot to say was we did get a delivery on the wednesday, just the chairs, no table somehow the privatre company decided only to send half the order, and the chairs are no good without the table!!!!
whilst on to to customer care told them we had part order which was no good and she said argos would pick the chairs up on the friday, yep you guessed it, 2 months later, we still have them!!!!!!!!
anyway the evening went well, argos didnt manage to completely ruin our gathering, so if your thinking of using argos for delivery service, thought you would like my short story on taking this route.

Charge them for storage Keith, B&Q or Homebase for a strimmer?

Well that is a heck of a story Keef but I suspect very familiar across the board. You hear these kinds of complaints on TV about all sorts of stores...I myself have been lucky as I used Comet several times online and it all worked okay. Didnt go to the store in person..maybe thats the problem. Lack of instore communication...which isnt a problem online.

always found them excellent until recently.
they are using another courier company which cannot give precise delivery times and are a bit haphazard.
the last time i had a delivery it arrived the day before it was supposed to so i was out, notice they seem to have stock shortages as keith points out.

Strimmers - B&Q or Homebase but check on their stock of replacement cable before you buy, and don't try using any cheap non-original replacements, they're usually rubbish.
