We will probably always have a drug problem as the suppliers make big money and we don't execute them.
So as damage limitation to stop the crime mayhem that comes with the addicted trying to keep up with there habit, it seems sensible to supply them on the NHS until they are no longer addicted or dead.
At least the suppliers would loos the money they get from there trade, and we would benefit from les crime.
Maybe the politicians could ask the police on the ground what they need to do the job and give it to them.
And get the addicted in to the schools to tell the kids the mistakes that led them there.

customs agencies around the world love to make bold statements when they seize a consignment and boast about cutting supply chains.
the truth is that the users will always get their fix because the trade is so lucrative for the people at the top that they can easily afford a few confiscations.
Isn't it the opportunistic and highly organised illegality that has created the problem? People buy fags and booze legally and, mostly, large groups of people don't get shot as a result of the deals.

The world beyond the automatic/autocratic illegality of drug use would be very different indeed. It would change America almost beyond recognition, for, even though...
The 15th Amendment* to the US Constitution...
Sect. 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.
There are today more black folk without the right to vote than was the case at the height of Slave Ownership.
