Just because you don't take an interest in politics doesn't mean that politics won't take an interest in you. PERICLES.

They will probably never legalise cannabis because it makes people lazy, and although its not physically addictive, a large number of people use it to self-medicate their mental health issues and find that they can't face the day without it. I reckon the nearest they will come is to decriminalise more and more as time goes on, keeping penalties in place for people who walk past schools smoking it, or trying to entice youngsters to use it. I can't see that its better or worse (more or less harmful) than alcohol, but lots of people smoke it rolled with cigarette tobacco meaning that a lot of users are cigarette smokers too, and I'm sure we've heard about the dangers of smoking. I was told the other day that you can buy 'vape' liquid which contains the pain killing element of cannabis but doesn't contain the other parts of the drug. In case you hadn't guessed, I'm not a fan.

You would have thought that by now the active medicinal ingredient could be extracted and produced in pill form

I was going to reply to this last night but was too stoned to type and now I can't remember what I was going to say.
Hey man. What's this topic about anyway?

Probably very little profit in it, much more money to be earned from inventing a new drug.

The main benefit of legalising it is that it takes away the criminal element that doctor the product with habit forming substances which makes things very dangerous. Many Chief Constables across the country want legalisation of all recreational drugs as they are losing the war but that is another issue altogether and politicians would never agree to that.
