Howard, I think if he got to read anything I might write for him to read, then he would read that the liber pontificalis was first written around the sixth century, and claims that Linus was the successor to Saint Peter as head of all Christianity. All popes claim this line of succession.
I claim that Saint Mark the Evangelist is the succesor to Saint Peter, followed by the Evangelists Matthew and Luke.
Hence, the pope's line of succession would come to an end, if he followed what I claim, and people would believe that the Evangelists are the successors to Saint Peter.
