this from the intrepid graham tutthill from kent online.
Police cracking down on thieves who are stripping metal from buildings and selling it on have made a number of arrests.
It follows the widespread theft of lead and other metals from buildings, including churches and charity shops, several of them in Dover. The crimes have been fuelled by the rising price of scrap metal.
Eight arrests have been made including two men who were detained in Marine Avenue, Hythe, on Wednesday after it was reported that men had made off from a building in Maison Dieu Road, Dover, where lead had been stolen from the roof. The two, aged 24 and 45 from Folkestone, were questioned and released on bail until August 19.
A 20-year-old Dover man was also arrested on Wednesday evening following reports that a man was acting suspiciously on a flat roof near the Flagship pub in Snargate Street, Dover. He was arrested on suspicion of theft, questioned and released on bail until August 26.

Love that they release them on bail - so they can (allegedly) carry on their thieving ways
