The post you are reporting:
It's most likely that Dave has lost the vote for the Conservatives from many communities: Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim.
Last night I was reading on the Web that thousands of Tory members ripped up their membership card because of this stance of DC.
He has already been forced into a U-turn, and now it is: the Church of England cannot officiate same-sex marriages, being exempt. At least that's what Sky News reported yesterday.
And two days ago it was: some parishes could officiate them, others couldn't. (Depending on whose decision?).
Some mosques could, others would be exempt....
The divisions and disputes within communities, the potential law-suits that could ensue, and the fact that the "Human Rights" law could be used to force all communities to officiate same-sex marriages within the context of their faith, thus exposing British Law - and indeed traditions valid in ALL religious organisations all over the world - to the Human Rights trump-card, has surely got to be the last act played by the Tory party. It's bound to be their downfall.
What we would have is the Human Rights Act being played against everyone who dares say "booh". In other words, not to officiate same-sex marriages would be breaking this "One-For-All" law.
Yesterday I also read somewhere that in several countries in Europe where same-sex marriages in church became law, the number of straight people getting married in Church precipitated, as they simply abandoned the church.
