A Deal woman has been sent to prison for 120 days after she assaulted a security guard outside the Morrison's store in Bridge Street, Dover.
The 20 year old had denied the assault in October last year but was found guilty by magistrates in Folkestone (30 April 2012).
The court heard that she had hit, bitten and scratched the member of security staff who had stopped her just outside the store, suspecting she had stolen a bottle of alcohol.
PC Richard Cordery said: "This behaviour was completely unacceptable. Lanni was kicking and screaming in front of members of the public trying to go about their day and get their shopping.
"I am pleased that the court has imposed a sentence as this reflects the seriousness of the assault that she carried out on a man who was just doing his job."
Another woman from Dover who was also in the store was given a 24 month conditional discharge after she admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour causing harassment alarm or distress to those nearby.

An efit image has been released by police searching for a man who followed a Deal teenager and tried to force his way into her home.
The man followed the 18-year-old woman from Deal rail station down Blenheim Road, Beaconsfield Road and into Victoria Road at about 11.50pm on Friday 18 May 2012. As the woman reached her home he ran up to her, hugged and tried to kiss her. He also tried to grab her coat but she pushed him away and shut the front door on his arm.
The following day (Saturday 20 May 2012) the girl reported that the man was at Deal rail station at 4.45pm when he got on the same train to Dover as the woman and followed her to work at a pub. He then disappeared.
He is described as white, 5ft 6ins, skinny, aged between 45 and 50 with short, brown, messy hair and a gap between his front teeth. He was wearing a green hooded coat and blue jeans.
Anyone who knows the man or has information is asked to contact Kent Police on 101, giving reference ZY/13772.
