  I just had a chat with Vic on the phone. All did not go as planned with the operation, they have discovered a nasty infection in the joint; although the new knee is now in place they have had to insert steel rods to keep it stable and he is splinted up like an oven-ready chicken. He is on powerful antibiotics but the wound refuses to heal and is still bleeding a lot.
  
  But you know Vic, he is still cheerful and still bending my ear about the Peoples' Port! He has started muttering darkly about holding referenda in the parishes where he sits on the council.
