Folkestone Rd was a great place up till they let all the nice family homes turn into one bedroom flats also nice B&B and a few hotels all had nice gardens I was upset about it all then and even more so now.
We need family homes yet still they are putting in more flats it is turning into a no go area .
It can be turned round again by C/P orders by the council then handed over to a housing trust but the cost will be high and they would still have to rehouse the public living there. But my main worry is still with the Dover Collage if you was paying out for your young ones to go there would you like to see that kind of housing when driving to the collage,.And there has been talk in the pass about the collage pulling out I was still about when they were thinking about it.
Yes that was some years ago and there is a new headmaster now etc so I do not know want the thinking of it today.
They could easy move in with the Duke of York school lots of room up there and they already use their grounds so I have been told.So unless the D,D,C working with the police do some thing in the way of keeping the road clear of all the rubbish and the police keeping law and order up there it will keep going down hill .This is my view only I have not been talking to any group or council on the way I feel about it all.
I am not a cllr any more, or live up that way but that does not stop me still from feeling sorry in the way it has gone.
And the planning committee at the D.D.C, is not the same one as it was then but it is the same party running the council so it is down to them to try and turn all this around.
Also what is not helping is the cut backs of the D.D.C. funding from the K,C,C. and in saying that the K.C.C also have had their own funding cut, so it all gets passed down to the next dept and so on.
I do not know what to say about it all I am no brain of Britain ,but a saving of any amount can still be done (1)That the town council which has a lot of funding .The Folkestone rd is a town council ward so one could say they should give a helping hand in keeping that ward clear of rubbish ,they have the funds for it both councils do now work better along side each other.(A big cut back on parish councils get rid of some by joining them up with other parish councils there is no need to have in place the amount of parish councils we have. This would make saving of many £1000s of pounds, And one could even say ,as said before do we need a town council which is costing some £700.000 per year.
I do not know if having one council would work or not ,but if the town council did help in keeping its own wards there is about 6 of them clear of rubbish etc this would be a big help and help the D.D.C. a lot And if they done that then yes there is a call to keep both councils but I feel there is a lot the town council could do more then what they do now .for the amount of funding they get.Again my views only and am I right, again I do not know.
