Brian - there is nothing wrong under the rules of the House for claims to be made for second homes as MPs must have a base in London as well as their Constituency.

What does matter, of course, is that those claims are being made properly and are genuine. Anyone of whatever Party who can be shown to have fiddled their expenses in this or any way should be dealt with as severely as the law allows.

It may well be that the rules on claiming expenses, as in the case of the EU, are themselves wrong and is something that should be looked into. As far as I am aware the UK Parliament is nowhere near as bad in the level of salaries and expenses as the EU.
