Roundabouts are to regulate Traffic surely? do other roundabouts in the UK have police flocking to them when traffic is busy or is it just Aycliffe that expects this to happen?

it is an article of faith to some truckers to block it cutting off aycliffe from the outside world martin.
i don't think this is a nationwide problem.

martin, its just not aycliffe that gets blocked its the other 3 as well.police are usealy on york street, the swing bridge one and limekiln street ones [bp garage one],but aycliffe one only gets police 2 times out of 10 and thats where the problem starts.the only other way of the estate is military hill, except when it snows.and on saying that there was an accident up there sunsay between a lorry and a car,you can guess the outcome of that cant you.

It must be a nightmare for you and the other residents Brian, the problem of access should have been resolved a long long time ago, the resolution is not with the ever dwindling Police force but with a proper traffic management system, a flyover a tunnel a slip road something that will allow 24 hour access and egress to Aycliffe.
