    FUEL PRICE REPORT JUNE 2012

    Following Government pressure for fuel price transparency, petrol prices have fallen more than 4p a litre for the second successive month. The cost of diesel has fallen nearly 5p a litre in the past month.

    Although the cost of petrol is lower than a year ago and diesel nearly the same, both fuels are at least 15p a litre more expensive than two years ag0. Oil: $97 a barrel.


    Unleaded prices have fallen by 4.6ppl from 138.4ppl to 133.8ppl. Diesel prices have fallen by 5.0ppl from 144.3ppl to 139.3ppl.

    The price difference between unleaded and diesel has fallen to 5.5ppl.
    Northern Ireland recorded the highest price for unleaded at 135.3ppl. Yorkshire and Humberside recorded the lowest price for unleaded at 133.2ppl. The South East recorded the highest diesel price at 140.0ppl. Yorkshire and Humberside has the cheapest diesel at 138.5ppl.

    Supermarket prices for unleaded fell by 5.2ppl to 130.9ppl. The gap between supermarket prices and the UK average for unleaded has risen to 2.9ppl.

    The UK has the tenth highest petrol price in Europe and the second highest diesel price.

    The Average Price in the Southeast is 134.2p a litre.
