Back in the 70's (halcyon days) I had a document that needed Graham Tutthill's attention. He was on holiday at home in River at the time. I posted it, ordinary mail, in the "General" as the Priory Street post office was known at about 09.45. He received it in the second post at 11.15!
How times have changed.

They were discussing this stupid plan on Sky news this morning, it certainly makes a mockery of the 1st class next day delivery.

It was on the cards once the Royal Mail was privatised, now all about a return for the shareholders rather than service to the public.

Everything posted in Dover goes first to Rochester nowadays.

Just had my delivery at 5.35pm.
Is that 1st, 2nd or last post? Perhaps even tomorrow's post?

Mine normally arrives between 1 pm and 2 pm, not a problem for me but for businesses waiting for important documents could prove a problem.

Our postal deliveries have gradually got later and later while we have to pay more and more for an inferior service.
Although I live very near the sorting office I never know when my post will arrive it is anytime between 9.30am and 3.30pm, this week it has been around lunch time..

Usually midday here in Whitfield. Always earlier on Tuesdays, I was told by a postman ages ago why, but I have forgotten.
