If anything Barrie, it's worse than it ever was. When my lad went to St. Mary's (some 8/9 years ago during Mrs Waller's tenure) it was becoming increasingly prevalent. A 'name & shame' process was put into place with regard to the yellow hatching area, which worked quite well.
Under the present incumbent, Mrs D'Cruz, standards have slipped and the worst offenders are (and this will create the usual 'shock, horror, racist' reaction) the Eastern Europeans who have absolutely no regard for paths, yellow hatchings, signs or Traffic Wardens. Fortunately my daughter is in the juniors now and doesn't use the Laureston entrance, but it's only a matter of time before a mother/pupil/child gets knocked down by a reversing/parking car....
