  did any one see the above aeroplane this afternoon around 3.30pm this afternoon,it was flying low around the aycliffe area.it flew from the battle of britan site done a full circle over the western entrance the flew at low level back towards folkestone.
  
  for those who didnt see it,it was a great spectical to see at such close quaters.

  I saw it go overhead , I initially heard the engines they sound so different to anything flying today , magnificent sight ( and sound )

  Yes Brian I saw it but was up the other end by the Gateway flats. Unfortunately I couldn't get my camera out quickly enough to take a photo or video - gutted! Wow what a whopper though - wonderful sight and sound as Sarah said. Actually we went to St Martins battery first but it was full up so we went to the seafront instead - maybe they knew about the plane?
  Wonder if Paul Wells or Phil Eyden were about to take pics of it.

  I was lucky enough to be by the clock tower when it flew over, so low as well. No mistaking the sound that plane makes, impressive

  A famous relic from ww2, I'm proud to have known one of my relatives was the Flight sergeant of Guy gibsons air crew of the Dam Busters. John Pulford.

  I heard it but was in the Western Heights moats so didn't see it, though the sounds was so distictive!!

  yes agreed,a very rare site these days but a wonderfull site to see so close up.

  heard it but didn't see it, found this photo on the interweb thingy of the first one to complete 50 missions, taken in 1943.
