i have to admit i normally look down my nose at womens sport but was most impressed by the performance by great britain beating brazil tonight.
it was generally thought that our girls were likely to be soundly beaten, but not only did they win but dominated throughout, at least the bits that i watched.

It was a fantastic game - with some truly great skill on show from both sides. Hope Powell, the GB coach (incidentally the first women ever to gain a EUFA pro coaching licence) got her tactics and formation spot on and her team executed the game plan brilliantly.
The women topped their group, having won all 3 games and not having conceded a goal. they now are likely to play Canada in the quarter finals, a real opportunity to get into the semis.

I really enjoyed watching this game, and watched one they played earlier too. Excellent.
