Kung Fu Crazy?!
- 28 April 2011 10:10103839Musician Simon Ledger and his band were recently performing the classic song Kung Fu Fighting (by Carl Douglas) at a bar on the Isle of Wight, when an Asian man cursed at Simon and took a photo of him. According to police, the man accused Simon of subjecting him to "racial abuse."
When contacted by police, Simon agreed to meet them and they proceeded to arrest him! "I thought it was a joke but they were serious, he stated. They seemed pretty amazed but said the law is the law and it was their duty. It's political correctness gone potty."
- 28 April 2011 11:16103842I found this hard to credit too when I heard. The tale as I heard involved a bunch of passing Chinese tourists. I must say your take on it is more plausible, not that plausible is the right word at all.
It is certainly not true that the police must act against any and all infringements of the law, the discretion that comes with the warrant is the most important aspect of policing, I would say.

how he kept a straight face whilst singing a line like "these cats are fast as lightning" is beyond my comprehension.
