also feel its a shame as the show used to releft the local areas i.e white cliffs country, canters, ashford etc so local people could phone in and talk about whats going on in there areas now its just kent

always the way, councils for instance always dress up their cuts as a new improved service like a multinational company flogging a washing powder.

Thats bad news indeed, this will lose some of the local community involvement.

I used to listen to Johnny Lewis (who has also been booted) from time to time as he is a friend of mine. I stopped listening to Invicta years ago and now I shall stop listening to KMFM. What a shame, I'm afraid it's BBC and Classic FM for me now.

Thanks John for raising this subject
I know Adam personally and I have sent him this link so he can read it. I wont go into what happened as this is not the place but what I can say is that Adam didnt deserve the treatment he got, or any of the other djs. Yes it has been done as a cost saving exercise but at the expense of local people and local radio coverage.
Adam has always put KMFM and his listeners first, together with a number of local charities and groups he has supported over the years and this is the way a so called commercial radio station treat him. He didnt even get the chance to say goodbye to a lot of people. People will now vote by not listening and I'm sure advertisers etc will be thinking carefully about who they use. KMFM was always proud to state they were a local radio station for local people. Not now - they have gone the same way as Invicta did and broadcast from a central point county wide. The viewing figures will be interesting I'm sure.
Im sure people will want to wish him well in whatever new venture he does and he is overwhelmed by the support he has received from many people. I'm sure Adam will turn up on radio again somewhere and certainly hope this is a new beginning for him.
Adam I know you will read this and just want to say Good luck m8, the airwaves in Dover and Shepway will be a sad place without you

Losing, Johnny and Adam, has and will continue to have a very big negative impact our local community life. They and the others helped and supported many aspects of community life and helped to promote many projects and events going on locally. I know Johnny because he invited me to do many live spots about moving the statue and promoting the KMF and I am sure that all the breakfast DJ's that lost their jobs will be deeply disappointed.
A shining light for us however, could be our very own community radio station, Dover Community Radio. I spoke with Barry the other day and although there is still much work to do, the whole team are working hard to get on to our airways and start to help our communities. As with everything these days the main ingredient for their success is our support, so let's rally round DCR and fill this gap that KMFM has left us with.

The DCR project had, shamefully, skipped my mind. I do recall the threads a while back seeking out decorators and promoting the launch and I hope that it goes from strength to strength.
Nothing truely 'local', be it national/local politics or radio, will be realised unless it begins at the bottom and builds from there. Far more tea-room and bar-room than cabinet or board room.
Hopefully those who advertised on local radio when it was local will see the advantage of moving over alongside the DJs.
