The Herald seems intent on bigging-up the vandals;"costs taxpayers thousands"
It cost, an extra, £400 and caused no slight degree of upset to a number of individual, real, honest to goodness, people.
The 'upset' would have made a better focus for the story.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

agree tom the amount of money involved is miniscule whilst the upset to the people that work to provide us with such a tranquil and beautiful environment will be immense.
