13:2883434It's the end of an era for the King's Hall. Brian Ward, the owner has decided to call it a day partly due to increasingly ill health.
It was 13 years ago this month that Brian bought the hall in what was a fairly dilapidated state.
Previously, the hall had been home to a bingo club. Prior to that it's uses had been as a home for the sea cadets and of course it's original use as the Wesleyan Chapel.
Brian has lost count of the amount of money and man hours he has spent on bringing the hall back to it's original splendour.
What next one wonders.

13:4783437I tested my PA in there for the very first time - good acoustics and a beautiful building, do hope that it continues to be used for dances etc?
Oh Boy!, That'll be the day.........

19:1183471Good Luck to Brian; he has, as you say Terry, tried to make a success of it, it must be an uphill struggle for him.
Good Luck to who ever takes it over.

18:5783834Is there a price on the hall, and is it only of use as a function room does anyone know?
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

20:3683851I don't actually know what Brian might consider selling it for. It could of course remain as a hall for dances, parties etc or there is always the possiblity of convertion into flats, sorry, I mean apartments! It is of course listed so the outside of the building couldn't be altered.
At one time Wetherspoons looked at it.
Have an electronic look round:-

21:5283854A bit too far out of town, but the Samuel Peto at the Baptist Church at Folkestone is a good example of how a building like this can be respected
Been nice knowing you :)

21:5883857Yes Paul, the one in Tunbridge Wells is similar, I just can't remember what it's called.
Actually, I think It may have been Taunton, I'm getting old and decrepit!
