Anyone catch the Panorama programme the other night regarding the antics of a company called Kingdom and how their staff recruited as environmental enforcement officer's ply their trade? I understand Ashford and Maidstone use these jokers to dish out fines but have had their problems with over zealous staff I also heard Canterbury binned ( excuse the pun ) this company????

I saw bits of it. A very dodgy outfit with one person allegedly receiving a £1000 bonus.

Easy to trace you if in a car by the reg number but if you are on foot and refuse to give details what can they really do?

As far as I'm concerned as long as people appealing the fines are dealt with fairly, (and as they all wear body cctv that should be no problem), they can have as much bonus as they can get, I'm sick to death of people's attitude to littering thinking it is perfectly acceptable, apart from the unsightliness of it a huge proportion ends up in watercourses and the seas Double the fines and consider temporary custodial sentences for repeat offenders. Maybe then these people will start getting the message that it Is not acceptable!

Whilst by no means endorsing 'littering', it's a great shame our councils seem so toothless on enforcement on much worse blights which periodically affect us - the travelling community (sic).

Agree so much to the bulk of those comments on that story ... why are these travellers so untouchable when it comes to the theiving, flytipping and all round grief everyone suffers when this lot invade public spaces?

They seem to be teflon coated allowed to break in wherever that takes their fancy knowing that the law means it takes time before the bailiffs appear which suits them as they don't intend to stay in one place too long. Make no mistake, if it wasn't for the DTIZ we would have seen the Russel St car park used as a dumping ground for litter all Summer long.
