My view is that people are free to write the history they wish to write , it is up to the audience to decide the validity of the history they are presented with . I would expect different view points and points of time would give very different perspectives if they where to write a history of an event or a person. For example a history of the conservative party of the 80s written by Micheal Hessaltine might be very different than a history of the conservative party in the 80s written by Ken Livingstone , or a history of the Britsh Empire written in the 1940s by Winston Churchil might be very different than a history of the British Empire written in 2012 by Dianne Abbott . People are free to write the history they wish to present ,people are free to accept or deny it as they wish .
