The Kent Marine Festival was held at Dover Cruise Terminal on Wednesday. Described by the organiser the Kent Education Business Partnership as ...
..... an interactive skills event with a wealth of employers showcasing the diversity of career opportunities within marine and maritime sectors, including engineering, biology, entertainment and seamanship.
I'm not sure how many visitors arrived yesterday, but last year over 70 employers, 6 Colleges, 44 Kent schools and around 2000 pupils attended.
A feature of the event was a visit by the Trinity House flagship Patricia, one of three ships that operate around the coast of England, Wales and the Channel Islands - the other two ships being the Galatea and the Alert.
What appears not to be commonly known is that that Patricia takes passengers on what the operating company Strand Voyages call just that ..... a voyage rather than a cruise. She has accommodation for twelve passengers in six double cabins. Although where you go and what you do is governed by the ship's operational schedule, it isn't cheap - but the standard of comfort and service is second-to-none.
