"Dear Mrs Gillham
On behalf of the Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory and all the many volunteers here who have known Kenneth and enjoyed his company and passion for wildlife over the years, I would like to thank you for organising such generous donations as we have received courtesy of the Cooperative Funeral Care in Dover. We have received a total of £510 which is going to be a tremendous help here and is such a wonderful gift. Ken is a sad loss and I appreciate your generosity in thinking of us at such a difficult time.
The monies are sorely needed as we have several projects in hand and the Trust may well be purchasing or renting more land over the coming year and expanding and consolidating our work in the area. I hope that you will see our efforts in the coming years being, in not a small way, thanks to Ken and his passion for life.

Our Mum, and the whole family, would once again like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and very generous donations in Kens memory. We are still finding what has happened hard to cope with, but take a lot of comfort from knowing how popular and well respected Ken was, and I'm sure he would have really appreciated what your generosity will allow the observatory to achieve.
