I quite agree Keith. You should try driving one for a living!
Being a fully paid up member of the lorry driving fraternity I fail to see how any right-minded trucker would even attempt to take a truck under bridge with a clearly signposted height restriction.
I doubt the lorry driver will get the bill Colin, though his company's insurance premiums will be taking a hike. I would hope that at least the driver would get a few points on his licence and a fine for driving without due care.
Sue: Might it not be possible to get some warning devices sited in the area? I have in mind the simple, yet effective, hanging bar type that would belt a truck before the truck belted the bridge. That bridge certainly has more than its fair share of knocks and the solution is relatively inexpensive.
