Alexander is right.
If the Labour Councillors attended last night's Full Council meeting (wasn't quite a full meeting though) they would have seen and heard a presentation about Calais Port development and how it very importantly ties in with ours; there was also a presentation on the latest, as regards DTIZ.
Calais Port is moving ahead and is not just upgrading but increasing in capacity, including taking cruise ships; they are also working on a rail-head for freight that comes from rail all around Europe and beyond - even as far away as China.
The Trans-Siberian railaway is being upgraded too, to enable frieght to come from China - picking up and dropping off freight at different countries on the way.
If T2 is not worked up now, we will miss the boat (pardon the pun !). Calais and Dover Ports are integrally linked; Calais is switched on to the future needs more than we are and also switched on more as regards European funding, which we will have to look at seriously too - and not waste years thinking this doesn't need to be done now - it does.
These major developments take years and the funding for them can take a long time too.
The Port and T2 need developing and funding now, so the Peoples Port will also have to start looking to Europe for funding too; Neil I understand is knowledgable about how to go about this ?
We can't keep out heads in the sand, we must look to the future - Dover needs to too.
Roger
