I love Six Towns- and have spent alot of time on the Churnet Valley Railway over the years-congrats to your venerable aunt and uncle-did they work in the pottery industry?...There's nothing quite as wonderful as a Moorlands accent!
Never give up...

Sorry some very bad wording there,my Aunt and uncle live in Cloucester but I was in Stoke to see my Karen who is a Chemist in Stoke, but agree with yourself Mr Moffatt,we like Stoke alot and stay at the Hotel in Trentham Gardens. The history of the potterys is great to read about, and some very good paintings about of that times, there is one we are after but the cost of it is to much for myself at this time.Good football team aswell. As for my Uncle ,he spend his working live as a fitter for Vickors alot of their work this for the MOD.Thank you for you post. And yes some of my grandchildern have that accent and I call them old Stoke "Os"

Richard
My family's history lies in Stoke On Trent, Longton to be specific. My Grandmother worked every day of her working life for Wedgwoods in Barlaston, whilst my Grandad worked as a potter in Burslem until he passed away in the 60s. I have some very fond memories of Stoke from boyhood, even though the place was filthy from the chimneys constantly belching out black soot from the pot banks.
True friends stab you in the front.

Yes I can understand why it is liked so much,we love going up there.and Trentham Gardens are great and a garden centre is so big and it takes a good 3hours to get round it and all looks great this time of year, the shops in the centre are all made out of wood and the hotel we stay in is in the centre, and food outlets all around you,it is great all year round it is free but not the gardens themself but lots to do if you you do not want to go into them but you can spend all day just in the gardens lot to see and do in there big ice s/ring in there at this time of year to,and other events the big pop stars are there in the summer weeks. And then you you also have the potterys themself all open top the public,Wedgwoods, and others ,and you can have ago yourself and take it home after it is baked.
