I have just heard that John Turnpenny has passed away.
A true Dovorian, a real Gentleman in the true sense of the word; he was recently made a Freeman of Dover.
He was 93 I believe and had Prostrate Cancer.
John will be sorely missed - very sad indeed.
R.I.P.

Yes He was one of Dover,s best as Roger said above a true Genteman to the end.
When you went into his shop, it was always "Yes sir can we help you"?

Yes Roger, a true gentleman in every sense of the word. Always raised his hat when greeting my wife and myself.
Here's his grandfather standing in the London Road shop doorway.

Very, very sorry to hear this. One more of Dover's greats gone. He did manage a good age though and there are many 80 year olds who seem older than him whilen he was in his 90's.

That rules me out from attending. What with my breakfast meeting and preparation for the evening event.
